BADDie in Charge: Your Money Therapist

My name is Alexandra, Owner of B.A.D.D. Money Tx (therapy), LLC. .

I am a professional licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in Washington DC, Spelman Alumna- BA in Psychology, certified life coach, and trailblazer in life.

.

My upbringing stems from a Caribbean household, being the eldest grandchild on both sides to lead the way and first to break cycles . This Godly assigned responsibility has motivated me to do what I had to do - to do what I wanted to do. Through observation and witnessing repeated failed attempts, I always wanted to take what was learned and apply it in the most effective way to benefit the future.

My family has always been the fire that heated that passion.

.

MY PERSONAL MANTRA:

PROPER PLANNING PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE

.

In college, I initially chose to major in Economics/Business, but second semester sophomore year decided to switch to Psychology to learn how people behaved with money rather than learn about supply/demand. This trajectory lead me further into studying human behavior, thus pursuing a Masters in Social Work.

.

The Social Work field discusses about cognitive development, social injustice, poverty & the minority, systemic racism, and racial/gender wage gaps, and the list goes on. These all have an underlining relationship; Money!

.

Finances & Money is not the priority focus in the social work field, which is ridiculous! Social Workers are the helpers and advocate of those who are marginalized in our society, so why not normalize money talks!

.

Today I welcome you to join a working relationship that incorporates Social Work practice with Financial Literacy.

.

Too often, clients end up in a revolving door of referrals to service providers that offer immediate financial assistance or services that discuss surface level needs. Band-aids.  I’m tired of it. No more hush-hush strategies! Time to learn how our thoughts from our past influence money management.

.

The Macro perspective studies the BIG picture to implement policies, education, and societal structures. With BADD Money Therapy, the objective is to address a Macro issue of Financial Disparities that will "teach people how to fish" not provide a temporary fix. We all know money can cripple individuals and families, preventing them from living their true purpose and reaching the dream lifestyle. It’s important to overcome the crab in the barrel mindset [feeling comfortable of what you’re used to], and getting out of being “stuck” [escaping the crowd and leaping into the unknown].

That takes time, practice, and confidence.

.

I can offer you customized guidance that will take consideration of your upbringing, your internal self-efficacy skills, your personality & strengths, and apply all that to develop your individual financial goals and resolutions.

.

As your Money Savvy Social Worker aka Money Therapist, I will be working with you to become assertive, empowered, and an overall Boss Baddie that knows how money influences your behavior. My technique will be using the social work practice of a Solution-Focused therapeutic approach; setting goals while being a Strengths-Based cheerleader along the way.

.

Let’s overcome your financial insecurities and become a full on BADD Boss of your life.
